Day 3 of potty training
Today marks day 3 of potty training and Hudson has only had 1 accident. Today he ran to Jonathan and said, "Oh man, gotta poop!" It was the funniest moment of my life.
We stayed home all day Friday. We had a playdate and I took the little potty outside. I basically stalked him every 15 minutes to go pee pee. He had 1 accident while he was playing naked, but that is ok. He wore a diaper Friday night for bedtime.
Yesterday we had a birthday party and he wore a pull up just incase. We still took him to the potty every 30 minutes and he did not have any accidents or wet his pullup. He wore a pull up to sleep last night and it appears he tinkled once. I do not think we are ready to sleep in big boy pants yet. Or I should say, I am not ready to change sheets all night long.
Today he has been great! He kept telling us when he needed to go and we still took him every 30 minutes or so, or at least asked him if he needed to go. He has figured out that telling me he has to potty is a great stalling tactic for naps. I have gotten my cardio by sprinting from one side of the house to the other. We went out to lunch today and I held him over the potty to tinkle there. That was a sight. I really need to find potty covers but Target is out of them and I cannot find the courage to brave Walmart.
We are so proud of him. He is probably so glad I do not make him soil himself anymore :)
I think some good lessons to potty training are-
Making sure they are ready. Do not feel the need to rush it.
Ask them every 15-30 minutes to try and go.
Get super excited when they use the potty. (It is really exciting)
Do not reward them each time. I started by giving Hudson m&m's but stopped. He gets a sticker on his potty chart but not a real reward.
Stay home for the 1st and maybe 2nd day. That's really hard!
Patience is key. Do not get mad if they have an accident.
Good luck!
