Somehow 9 months have come and gone and my sweet baby boy finished his first year of preschool. It is so hard to believe that he has one year of school under his belt. He learned so much. He started the year crying everyday and drop off and ended the year begging to go to school. He was truly blessed with the 2 best teachers. He made so many new friends and grew so much as a little person. I loved picking him up and hearing what he learned that day or hearing him tell stories at the dinner table. He is such a big boy now.
Last day of school pictures
I love that he makes such funny faces. I do not know when the last time was that he gave me a normal smile. He is such a ham. My big almost 3 year old, sniff, sniff, sniff.

Hudson's favorite things
Hudson has an overwhelming obsession with trucks. In the car he tells me what every single form of transportation is that passes us. We read truck & firetruck books 10 times a day. We crawl around the house pretending we are ambulance, firetrucks, diggers &dumpers and we sit on the floor for hours doing this...
He is also VERY into building things! Last week I bought 5 new puzzles and he figured out how to do them by himself so fast.
And Lincoln Logs are a big hit too
Now if I can just figure out what can distract him for longer than a minute by himself so I can shower in peace or even use the bathroom without him standing infront of me asking what I am doing.

Catching up
Wow, what a week!
I had a wonderful 30th birthday. My family and friends made it so special. Hudson loved it. He thought it was hilarious to tell me I am old and to sing "happy birthday" for 24 hours. I was so spoiled and loved all the family time. Jonathan and I escaped on a date and I am now completely obsessed with Mura. It is the yummiest place ever! I got some amazing jewelry. I had to laugh becuase the watch I have begged for the past 3 years on every holiday has still not found its way to my arm. I think it is now a running joke because Jonathan laughs too about it. But I LOVE my new jewelry and I am so proud of the boys for picking it out themselves.
Friday we had a gigantic black snake in our carport. I was walking out to grab something from the storage closet and let out a blood curling scream. It must have scared the anaconda because he wrapped himself around a bush beside the colums and then crept off. I ran in to get my phone and call Jonathan to come kill it.
I can honestly say that for the rest of the day I was on edge. I made Jonathan come home from work to look for it. I had goosebumps all day, I did not let Hudson or Sissy play outside. I did not even check my mail or go running. I sat inside all day freaking out. We now have a shovel by the side door and I am always prepared to go get my new red gun and shoot him! Hudson & I live outside so this has really put a damper on our daily activities. Hopefully there will come a day when I am not constantly looking over my shoulder.
Saturday we went to the Got To Be NC Festival. Or as Hudson called it, "Mommy's birthday tractor party." It was a gorgeous day and we had so, so, so much fun.
The free sample food section was Hudson and Daddy's favorite... what a life....
Hudson also made me ride the worm ride. It looked fun until I realized it went in 80 circles and bounced up and down.
We finished the weekend by reading books. It is my favorite time of the day.....

Peek at Mother's Day weekend
Saturday was a beautiful day filled with wonderful friends. We met Woobs & Uncle Forgwarts (Matt) for lunch at "the chocolate milk store" and then came home to play.
We love when they visit from Tennessee.
Hudson did not want any "paparoooozi."
Hudson loved playing t ball with Matt
The highlight for me was when Woobs attempted to kick a ball but totally fell on her behind!
After nap, Katie & Kyle came!! We miss them so much since they live in Maine. How did I not take a picture?!?! Katie & Kyle met at our wedding and are getting married next month, so fun! We loved catching up and laughing with our friends that we do not get to see often. I have to say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favorite thing about our friends is how they play with Hudson and love him so much. They are the best.
Sunday the boys served me breakfast in bed
Before I could even take a bite, someone else dove in
Just look at the butter dripping off his face.
Then we went on a long walk and I took a nap. I so badly wanted to go to church but it was so nice to actually relax and not be rushed.
For lunch we went to Jonathan's grandparents and grilled out with Jonathan's mom. We came home for Hudson to nap and then had dinner at our house with my mom. It was a wonderful Mother's day and so special that we could be with all the moms.
My entire life, the only thing I knew for sure I wanted to do was to be a wife and mommy. Jonathan and Hudson have completed my life and made me the luckiest person on the planet. Everyday is Mother's Day when I get to be with those 2. And we are so lucky that we have moms that love us so much!

Mother's Day Tea
Hudson's wonderful teachers hosted a Mother's Day Tea yesterday. Each mom waited outside of the classroom for our precious child to bring us inside and find our seat. We ate cookies, fruit, ham biscuits, doughnuts, goldfish and lemonade. Each child painted an adorable ladybug pot that had a flower in it and they made us handprints with poems and did a little survey.
Hudson's teacher read each survey outloud and you had to guess when you thought it was yours. Mine was a dead giveaway with "chocolate milk store"
The chocolate milk store is Which Wich at North Hills. Obviously we eat there too much, but Hudson loves their homemade chocolate milk. The funny parts are that I do not cook hot dogs and Hudson only eats McDonalds for breakfast. I do not remember the last time I wore a jacket, but maybe I should wear more since he thinks I look pretty in them. And yes, I love greeen beans! I love this survey! What a special day!

Wednesday brain dump
1 week from turning 30. How is that possible? The only thing I seriously asked for is a little peace & quiet. Life has been so hectic, Jonathan has been traveling so much, Hudson's social calendar is jam packed.... I just want at least 2 hours to myself... maybe a good nap.
Why are all toddler toys so loud? Every truck Hudson has makes a noise. He is completely obsessed with trucks and I find myself driving down the road saying things like, "look at that tipper truck, look at that cement truck, look at that flat bed truck, there goes a boom ladder firetruck." It is really sad when I point out trucks and he is not in the car.
Hudson now naps in big boy underware. He does great. (Surely I just jinxed myself) He also wakes me up all night long to go potty.
I find that I can spend 2 hours scrubbing my house and as soon as I am done, it is dirty again.
This is the most accurate animation I have ever seen about motherhood
I want every piece of this jewelry.... oh Jonathan, it is Mother's Day and my birthday!
I also am lusting over this hat
And these shoes
And I seriously, seriously want this bedding. I am so tired of our all white bedding. It does not work with a dog, a toddler and a husband! Who knew Land's End did bedding?!?!
Tomorrow I have a Mother's Day tea in Hudson's class. Melts my heart.
Can it please rain all day so I feel like cleaning and not leaving?! Our house is so gross right now.
Jonathan came home from work last night saying he was freezing and felt terrible. He did not eat dinner, put on a hoodie & sweatpants (wait, how have I not found the hoodie drawer and thrown them all away?), got in bed at 7 and slept through the night. I checked his fever at 8 and it was 102! He went to work this morning so my apologies to everyone in his office. I am sure that after being around him last night & Hudson having something similar last week, I am a ticking time bomb... tick, tick, tick. I think one of us has been sick every week this year. So over it.
I am so tired of hearing everyone preach about their opinions of the vote yesterday! Maybe if people did not spend all day ranting about it on facebook and were actually out educating people at the polls about it, things would have changed. Everyone deserves their opinions but I hate when things are thrown in my face.
This face. I love that face.

Met Gala
I love any event that requires a red carpet and judging celebrities clothing choices. Last night was the Met Gala and here are some thoughts....
Beyonce.... clearly when you "gave birth" (I swear she used a surrogate) your brain came out too. This dress is dreadful. Put some clothes on, you are a mother! You are not going to be "bootylicious" forever.
Diane Kruger was my favorite! LOVE!!!
Tom Brady and Gisele... they just annoy me. No one can be that pretty.
This girl... I am not sure who she is but I swear this is the same dress my mom wore to her wedding in 1970.
I also really loved Emily Blunts dress

Yummy dinner and wedding
Last night was the first time in over a week we had a homecooked meal. Jonathan was at the Kentucky Derby all week and I could not get it together to cook. Hudson was sick, I had too many doctors appointments for myself and we were just not home enough to prepare.
I was so excited to cook last night. We had Key West Grilled chicken
Combines the flavors of fresh lime, zesty soy sauce, garlic and just the right amount of honey
Orange- Glazed Carrots
This super-easy side dish gets a fast start from trimmed and peeled baby carrots. Use a microplane zester to grate both the citrus zest and the fresh ginger.
And grilled corn on the cob
We also had our friends Mark & Leslie's wedding this weekend. This was before the rehearsal dinner. We snuck away a little early to go have drinks & then headed out for a night of fun.
My sister wives were both there!!! Love my wives!
We attempted to take Hudson to the wedding since he loves his Uncle Mark, but I spent the entire time standing outside chasing him because he wanted to be a little too chatty.
Hudson was so happy that all of his "Uncles" were there. Jonathan really has the best friends!!! They are all so obsessed with Hudson.
The reception was so fun and I am so glad we decided not to take Hudson. Congratulations to M & L!!! We love them both so much and are so, so lucky to call them friends.

Morning thoughts
It is 5:30am and I find myself sipping my coffee, catching up on 3 weeks worth of the Good Wife and listening to my baby snoring in my bed. I am the farthest thing from a morning person. But once again, my husband is out of town and my baby is sick. This time a virus. Luckily not strep. His fever ranged from 100.7 to 103 around 2am.
He's so pitiful when he is sick. A limp noodle that just likes to be held. He is the only person I would give my bed too (he actually just spread himself out so much I had no room) and venture out into a cold, dark house at 5am for. Coffee is my friend and today I know we will go hand and hand all day.
Luckily my big guy comes home tonight. I have a mile long list of things I wanted to accomplish this week, things I have been putting off but that list will remain on my desk. We have another wedding this weekend and I cannot wait to see both my guys all dressed up.
Hudson got his haircut yesterday morning.... I realized he had a fever as I got him out of his chair.
My goal for today is to at least get some yard work done. We have a new trellace against our shed and I want to plant this exact scene
I also need to plant new vegetables in our garden thanks to the neighborhood bunnies. I hope I am not the lady who has to put up the tacky wire fence around my vegetables. I never knew how much I would enjoy working in a yard. Our yard seems gigantic and we have done so much to it. It is so nice to have neighbors walking by yelling, "your yard & house look fantastic!" or "So glad to have neighbors who love fixing up their yard." It makes me proud. My free therapy......

Tuesday tidbits
~ Day 5 of potty training and it was the first "poop your pants day." I'm not sure I can handle it. Hudson did have a perfect potty training day at school and used the potty there!
~ I got 4 inches of my hair cut off today and I want it back.
~ It's taco Tuesday in our house. My favorite day.
~ In 16 days, I will be 30.
~ Jessica Simpson finally had her baby. I am ususally not one to judge people who blow up during pregnancy (because I gained 50 pounds and had 8 chins) but she was gigantic.
~ I need a tan. I need the 4 inches of my hair back. And I need to lose about 5 more lbs.
~ Our fish is still alive. I have no idea how or why. Poor thing gets so neglected and Hudson never even looks at her anymore. How long do Beta fish live? She is 8 months old.
~ Hudson still blames Jesus when he makes a mess. It is really funny but really not funny at the same time. We want him to know all about Jesus but blaming him for things is not what we had in mind.
~ I have no cute pictures today because most of our week has been spent naked or just in big boy underware.
