Day 3 of potty training

Today marks day 3 of potty training and Hudson has only had 1 accident. Today he ran to Jonathan and said, "Oh man, gotta poop!" It was the funniest moment of my life. We stayed home all day Friday. We had a playdate and I took the little potty outside. I basically stalked him every 15 minutes to go pee pee. He had 1 accident while he was playing naked, but that is ok. He wore a diaper Friday night for bedtime. Yesterday we had a birthday party and he wore a pull up just incase. We still took him to the potty every 30 minutes and he did not have any accidents or wet his pullup. He wore a pull up to sleep last night and it appears he tinkled once. I do not think we are ready to sleep in big boy pants yet. Or I should say, I am not ready to change sheets all night long. Today he has been great! He kept telling us when he needed to go and we still took him every 30 minutes or so, or at least asked him if he needed to go. He has figured out that telling me he has to potty is a great stalling tactic for naps. I have gotten my cardio by sprinting from one side of the house to the other. We went out to lunch today and I held him over the potty to tinkle there. That was a sight. I really need to find potty covers but Target is out of them and I cannot find the courage to brave Walmart. We are so proud of him. He is probably so glad I do not make him soil himself anymore :) I think some good lessons to potty training are- Making sure they are ready. Do not feel the need to rush it. Ask them every 15-30 minutes to try and go. Get super excited when they use the potty. (It is really exciting) Do not reward them each time. I started by giving Hudson m&m's but stopped. He gets a sticker on his potty chart but not a real reward. Stay home for the 1st and maybe 2nd day. That's really hard! Patience is key. Do not get mad if they have an accident. Good luck!

Potty Training

It's time. Hudson is in potty training bootcamp. I kept putting it off and putting it off but I finally realized when he turns 3 in June, he has to be potty trained to participate in summer camp, soccer, rookie sports, t-ball, swimming lessons and school in the fall. As soon as he woke up this morning, we went pee pee on the potty. From that point on he has had in big boy underware. We have a little potty that I can move into the playroom (grossly, that has helped). I also moved it outside when we had friends over this morning.
He started off in boxers but decided they were too tight(?!)
Then he went naked for a bit
Around 8:45, I was already tired of being trapped inside so we got dressed and went on a bike ride. The entire way I think I was saying, "you do not have on a diaper, do you need to pee pee? Hudson, remember you have on big boy pants." I know he is so tired of me saying it. When we got home his friends were pulling in the driveway so he dropped his pants to show them he could pee pee. Seriously. This happened a few times. As of 12pm when he went down for a nap the score was- Hudson + the potty- 16, accidents- 0!!! I am so proud of him. He has a diaper on for his nap, I had no idea how to handle that situation, but as soon as he wakes up, it is back to big boy pants. I'm realizing my life is going to be completely different when he is potty trained. For instance.... we are going to have to use public restrooms.... AHHHH, I do not do that!!! Fingers crossed this is sucessful! I cannot believe how exhausting it is!!! Some cute pictures from our week

Mommy & Daddy date night

Saturday we went to Jonathan's bosses amazing wedding at the Umstead hotel & spa. We had so much fun. Too much fun. Still hurting 2 days later. I loved getting dressed up with Jonathan, he looked so handsome. He is so lucky to work with such wonderful people. We danced and laughed all night long.
We tried hard for a family photo but this is the best we got! 2 new houses are being built down the street and everyday we take a field trip to see the diggers and backhoe's. Hudson leaped off his bike and climbed in one the other day.

Getting the glare

Yesterday afternoon it started to turn a bit chilly. I had been runnng and came home, kicked off my tennis shoes and threw on my trusty uggs because my feet were cold. I realized we needed milk so I ran to the store. As I walked around I realized a few people were giving me weird looks.

I looked down and realized I had gone in public like this
\

What a sight.

My whole world

Jonathan was home sick Monday and Hudson has had a chronic double ear infection for weeks (We go to the doctor this week to talk about getting tubes put in, please pray his ears are clear and we can avoid that process). They both were a tad fussy so they were sent to bed by nurse mommy. My heart literally stopped when I saw this. My whole world was at peace.

There are so many things I love about Jonathan but seeing him as a father is my favorite. Hudson adores his daddy. I will hug Hudson and say "you will always be mommy's baby" and he will say, "no, I am daddy's baby." They play so rough together. Wrestling, tackling each other.... Hudson does this with me but it is much better when he is head butting someone else. They could spend an entire day playing sports in the yard or mowing the grass together. They are the cutest pair.

I also love that when Jonathan tries to kiss me, Hudson moves his face away and says, "no, that's my mommy" and then kisses my face before Jonathan can. There is no bigger blessing than being a parent. There are many moments when you want to pull your hair out but then you look at their face and realize it is all worth it.

My 2 boys. My whole world.

*While they took a 3 hour nap, I ran to a local nursery to get more plants & bushes for our yard (I have become completely obsessed). I spent 2 hours planting over 50 things and when I showed Jonathan he vaguely looked and said, "that's nice." I am going to remember that the next time he drags me outside to show me how "perfectly" he mowed the grass.

Yesterday I went to check on my new petunia bed and realized that 4 of them have been dug up. What animal does that? I may be getting my bb gun out and shooting things!

Sister Wives

I have been so blessed to have 2 great friends that have children Hudson's age. We started doing monthly play dates when the babies were little but as time went on that increased. We now do 3-4 a week. Our children think they are siblings. They talk about each other all the time and love being together. There are many days where we send a text out at 4pm begging to meet at a park or one of our houses just so we do not lose our sanity.

I am not sure who is luckier, our children that they are so close or Anna, Julia and I because we are so close. We spend all of our time laughing. Laughing hysterically about everything. We tell each other things that no one else probably wants to hear and we make up words that have led to our secret language. There are many days that I do not think I could get through without my Sister Wives. Yes, we named ourselves that. Even our husbands (who are friends) have said we spend waaaaaaaay too much time together.

Thank God for good friends. How cute are these sister wives babies...

And the Sister Wives

Anna, on the left, is in the hospital right this minute having a baby girl! Yay!!!

We are together so much that all of those pictures were taken withing 4 days of each other last week. Ha!

Gardening

I was so excited when we moved into our house last fall and I was able to start gardening. I have always dreamed of being able to go outside everyday and pick our homegrown vegetables for dinner.

We have a gigantic, old apple tree in the backyard and Hudson checks it everyday for apples. The blooms have started but no apples have sprouted yet.

I have been wondering what this weird bush in the front yard is and recently realized it is a blueberry bush! Score!!! I picked a few this morning for breakfast and they were so delicious. I cannot wait to make blueberry pancakes.

So far we have planted lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, sweet peppers, jalapenos, sweet peas, carrots, cucumbers, squash, parsley, basil and broccoli. Everything is really starting to grow. I also have a lemon tree that is growing inside.

I want to add a lot more garden beds and plant a lot more things. Jonathan laughs because I am so into it. Hudson is too. He helps me clean it and water it every day. He is so proud to tell me what everything is going to be and what he is going to eat first. I have no idea when I became so domestic but gardening really is a fun hobby!

Knock Knock

Hudson- "Knock, knock"
Me (or anyone else who is talking to him) - "who is there?"
Hudson- "Hudson!"
Me- "Hudson who?"
Hudson- "Bazemore"

Funny boy. One day he will learn a much funnier joke but for now, this one cracks us up!

Easter

I love holidays but Easter is becoming more and more my favorite one. The story of Easter is so magical. And seeing it through Hudson's eyes is magical. Last week he started saying that Jesus gave him to us and I almost melted. My precious child. My child of Jesus. He is so right, Jesus did give him to us.

We started off the weekend at breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Bebe at the club.

Mommy and Daddy with matching iphone stances? Both photo obsessed with our child!

Hudson was not scared at all of the Easter bunny and loved collecting eggs. He said he only wanted blue. Someone really needs to make red Easter eggs.

Hudson was so excited the Easter bunny came Sunday morning. He dropped off so many new cars, dinosaurs, carrot golf clubs, puzzles and learning cards. Hudson looks scared but I promise, he was excited. (The night before we worked on a letter to the Easter bunny. I asked Hudson what he wanted to tell him and he said "happy birthday, bunny!")

Church and lunch at Nanny and Papa's Sunday with Bebe

And dinner with Papa, Lisa, Isaac and Grandpa Sunday night.... where Hudson had his first onion rings.... yikes.

Fresh Beat Band

Last night we took Hudson to his first concert. The Fresh Beat Band

Hudson was so excited. He got into the chant before showtime

As soon as they started he turned into Mr. Serious.

He did not crack a smile for 2 hours. He sat in our laps and clapped and waved his arms but his face was stone cold. It was so funny.

There was an intermission after 45 minutes and he was not happy. He wanted his Fresh Beats back. As soon as they came back on, he climbed back in my lap and watched the rest of the show. When it was over he sobbed. SOBBED.

We loved it! They put on such a great show. They were very interactive, danced the entire time and sang all of their fun songs. At one point I had to check myself because I may have been into singing more than the 6 year old girl in front of us. Thank you so much to my dad and Lisa for giving us the tickets. We had a blast.

On the crutches front..... I have put them away. I can't do it anymore. I refused to take them last night because I knew there would be nowhere to put them and it would be such an inconvenience. I was in so much pain last night and this morning. Jonathan keeps saying "would you rather get surgery for a pin in your leg or would you rather listen to your doctor?" You honestly do not want my answer. Luckily I found some pain medicine from surgery I had 2 months ago so I can tolerate it. Today we are going to rest all day. Hopefully I will be OK for all the activities we have this weekend. I figure being on my leg for a little while and then resting and putting a heating pad on it may even it out?!?! We shall see...........

Happy Easter!

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."

Hanging in

I am still hanging in there. Today is my 1st day without any help and it has been a pretty big nightmare but life could be a lot worse.

I mentioned the other day that the baby gate to the kitchen is down. This opens a new world for Hudson. It takes me a good 1-2 minutes to get from 1 side of the house to the other. While I was getting dressed, Hudson escaped to the kitchen. I came in and found him with 3 containers of food dumped on the floor, syrup spread over it and a spatula. He told me he was cooking. Squatting down to clean it up was a whole other story. Thank goodness for Bailey to lick a lot of it up. My nerves were shot by 9am.

My mom and my friends have been the biggest help. I cannot drive, walk.... basically do anything alone. It's getting easier and I am feeling better but I have really just been having a pity party. My mom was taking Hudson yesterday but she took me out for fresh air for a little bit too.

We went to Open Play at North Hills and had lunch. Hudson had so much fun and I loved getting out, watching Hudson play and having help.

It's so nice to feel so loved ....... I have loved all the phone calls and emails too, thanks friends! xo

Gimp mommy

Hudson has developed a bit of sass. Surely he did not inherit that from me. Lately he has been saying, "Do not talk to me that way!" I try my hardest not to laugh. He repeats everything I say and that phrase usually comes out of my mouth after he screams at me for a "banana! yogurt! chesse! milk! now, mommy, now!"

I have a stress fractured hip. Let me tell you, it is a ball of fun to be on crutches with a toddler. My hip has been bothering me for a while. I've really been pushing the running and more exercise since bathing suit season is upon us (throw up in my mouth). Last Friday after a 4 mile run I thought I was dying. I could hardly make it back home. I tried to ignore it all weekend thinking I pulled a muscle or pinched something. Finally Sunday after mowing the grass... oh yeah- my father in law even witnessed it- I felt paralyzed. I could hardly walk 3-4 steps without falling over or having to hold onto something. I went in for x-rays and some testing and was diagnosed with a hairline stress fracture. They suggested an MRI but I am so claustrophobic that would never work for me. I am on crutches and cannot really do anything for 4-6 weeks. Do you have any idea how long that is? Or how hard it is to do so many little things? Putting Hudson in the car, walking from the mailbox to the house, getting dressed, everything is hard and painful. Thank goodness for such wonderful friends who have helped so much and my mom who I literally pushed Hudson off on. Jonathan has been amazing and has taken on so many more roles in our house; as if he does not do enough already! I think the thing that drives me the craziest is that the baby gate to the kitchen is down and Hudson is so curious. He made himself about 15 snacks last night before I could pull myself up to get in there! This is going to be rough.

Friday night we took Hudson to watch the State baseball game. We started with a tailgate to Char-Grill

It was a gorgeous night and Hudson was sooooo into the game.

Around the 6th inning he got bored. No popcorn, fruit snacks or raisins could keep him in his seat. So up and down the bleachers we went looking for Mr. and Mrs. Wuf, magnets, posters, etc. Finally Jonathan realized he could not watch the entire game so we left. Shwew!

Tomorrow we are heading to the Fresh Beat Band concert. I am not sure if Jonathan or Hudson is more excited. It stinks that our spring break is plagued by my injury but by golly, we will still have fun!
