Days away & picture for my cousin David

We are just days away from moving!!! Since I am packing this entire place up by myself.... oh wait, Jonathan packed one box...... Hudson has been such a good helper and has spent a lot of time playing by himself.

Most of his toys are boxed up but he will go in his room and play while I get things done. I crack up listening to the things he says.

"Sissy, you hold da horse" (while playing with his barn)

"Mama, I need eleven more" (while stacking blocks)

"Dis book is crazy. Come see the elephannnnnt" (while reading)

He has such a huge vocabulary now. We are always amazed what comes out of his mouth.

I also want to post this picture for my cousin David. I have been throwing bags of trash onto the patio and this little creature made its way onto one of them last night. If only David had been here to scream when he saw it.

And finally---- I tried to take a picture of Hudson before school yesterday but he was too fascinated with his raincoat.

When I picked him up his teacher asked me if he had any clothes that did not have his name on them. Maybe my obsession with clothes needs to stop?!

Just a check in post

- Packing is still going. It really is amazing the amount of stuff you accumulate in 3 years. Not to mention I keep buying new things. My dad and Lisa gave us the 2 beautiful chairs I was dreaming about and Jonathan has a new ridiculously hideous club chair. Throwing away stuff has been wonderful therapy! So far we have donated 12 bags of clothes to the Raleigh Rescue Mission and thrown away 23 bags of junk!

- Hudson had a wonderful day at school yesterday. His teacher said it was the first day he talked. I told her she was in for it now. When he is home with us he hardly takes time to breathe, he talks so much.

- Mimi is still alive! We made it 1 week without killing a fish.

- I really, really want to paint the foyer black and white stripes

- Hudson is obsessed with little trains (not his big train on his super expensive train table anymore) and little matchbox cars. This is what he is currently doing. The boot obsession is back too

- He is really coming into his own. Yesterday when I told him we were going to the grocery store to pick up dinner he said, "Well only if I get a cookie." He thinks he is the boss of this house.

-My excitement about moving keeps me up at night. I am so, so happy to be getting more space, a huge backyard and no neighbors on each side like our townhouse is now. I love driving by our new home and seeing all the young families out walking or playing with their kids in the yard. I love that we know over 10 families in the neighborhood.

Have a great day everyone. Thank you for listening to me babble!

Mimi Bazemore

We welcome with love, Mimi to our family.

Jonathan worked from home yesterday. Part of the reason was so he could go with me to drop off Hudson at school. We hoped that would make the transition easier, and it did! The other reason was because my day was planned minute to minute and he knew I would not be home! While Hudson napped, I ran a few errands, 1 being to PetsMart for Sissy's food. I also picked up a fish for Hudson. I thought it would be a great way to help him learn about responsibility and a good treat for having a great day at school.

So when he woke up from his nap we surprised him.

He was so, so excited. He looked at that fish for hours. At first he told us he was a boy and wanted to name him Mumble. (Like the penguin from Happy Feet) But a little while later he said she was a girl and her name was Mimi.

Mimi lives on Hudson's dresser and the 1st thing he said this morning was "HIIIIIIIIIII Mimi!!!!!" I hope this fish was not a mistake. It is going to be real fun moving her in a week!

New House

Our new house is now empty and ready to be painted and cleaned for us. We went in last night and still love it. It is old and not very up to date but in our dream location and the perfect amount of space for us. I love the outside.

We are going to use the back room off of the kitchen as a toy room for now. Hudson fell in love with the window seat. I know he will sit there a lot watching Sissy outside and reading books. It also has a great fireplace and storage. We are putting a sofa and chairs in there also, but mainly trucks, trains, planes and legos!

We cannot wait to move and have space!

While Hudson was at school today I went and roamed around Home Goods. If anyone would like to give us these chairs as a housewarming gift, I would be so appreciative.....

I will be asking Jonathan for them every night! Let the countdown begin for moving!

updates

Hudson is still adjusting to school. He cried when i dropped him off yesterday. I packed his bird blanket and Henry dog in his bag if he needed some reassurance. I got to school a little early so I could spy on him. He had his blankie and Henry in his lap and was playing play-doh with his little friends. Slowly but surely, he will learn to love school.

We went for flu shots yesterday and Hudson is old enough for the mist! That was the easiest process ever!

Hudson has not slept through the night in 3 nights. He wakes up and cries, cries, cries. He does not have a fever and can never tell us what hurts. Yesterday he threw up everywhere. It was so bad that an hour after I cleaned it up, I found some in Bailey's hair.

I found a DVD box set of Chip & Dale at Best Buy the other day for Hudson. He is OBSESSED. He gets 30 minutes in the morning so I can get ready and he chants, "Chip, Chip, Chip" while I put the dvd in. I loved that cartoon as a child and I am glad he does too.

Packing is a pain! I am finding so much stuff. I have found some wedding gifts that are still in boxes. It is really hard getting everything organized, clean and packed away. Especially when my Husband likes to unpack..... like finding his favorite beer glass. Seriously?!?!

Jonathan found a club chair the other day for our house. He swore it matched but as soon as he got home he realized it does not match at all. It is a great chair, just needs to be recovered. Add that to my 1,000 item list of things to do.

Is there a flag store in Raleigh? I have tried to order the state of NC flag 3 times now and each time it comes, it is a banner flag. I cannot find the one that goes on a flag pole. Driving me CRAZY!!!

I have 3 weeks worth of laundry to do today!!! Isn't that gross?! Our lives have been so chaotic lately that I have not even had time to wash & fold. I need 1 day to just get organized. It is really stressful living in a house that is torn upside down.

I love Hudson being in school. I am so excited about all of the things he will learn and the new friends he will make, but I am even more excited about time to myself. I am getting so many errands run each day and can actually take Bailey running 2 days a week. Long lost mother-daughter time.

New shows start next week. Jonathan has been counting down for Modern Family! Yay! Maybe that will help cure my new addiction to the show Toddlers & Tiaras. That is like watching a train wreck.

I found this picture of Hudson 1 year ago. He has grown so much!

Happy brain dump Wednesday.

Mini daddy

The topic of who Hudson looks like is always a debate in our house. My family and friends always say me, Jonathan's family and friends always say him. I was cleaning out the photos on our computer this weekend and found this picture of Jonathan when he was 2.

Here is Hudson at 2

I think it is safe to say they are twins. Right down to the same haircut. Hudson is so lucky to look like his handsome daddy.

Cathing up with Hudson at 26 months

Hudson is growing up so fast. He is showing a lot of personality and learning to express himself. I hear high pitched squeals a lot when he is not getting his way, he loves to tell us "no" and he loves to do exactly what you tell him not to do.

Overall, he really is a wonderful child. He loves his Sissy

Hudson has really been entertained by all the bulldozers tearing up the dog park behind our house. They are SOOOOO loud!!! Thank goodness we only have 2 more weeks here.

When we tell him it is time to take a nap or go night night, he runs and hides. He is usually pretty easy to find

Hudson still loves his naps. Here he is after school last week.... naked nap

Speaking of school.... he is having a hard time adjusting. Last Thursday he cried the entire time. He even cried all of Sunday School this week and kept saying, No school, no school." It broke my heart but he has to go to both. He looked very handsome before church.

He is wild at the dinner table and says the funniest things. His new thing is after each bite he says, mmmm, tasty." He loves to pray and will not eat until we pray, sometimes twice. He loves to cling our glasses together and say "cheers" and to recap his day.

Hudson is in love with his cousin "Wucy" and talks about her all the time

Hudson loves skyping with his other cousins Will and Caroline everyday and asking them "what you doin?"

We had so much fun at the WRAL Go ask mom event this past weekend with his friends Maggie and Carter. Hudson played chess, danced, colored and was obsessed with the big, green bus

Like any toddler, he spends 90 % of the day laughing and playing and the other 10% I am trying to figure out what he is fussing about. Luckily his biggest dilemas are me giving him the wrong color cup or not being able to reach something. Such a hard life. He is so fun to watch and we love him so much!

"I go feed da ducks?"

This past weekend we asked Hudson what he wanted to do. He thought for a minute and then said, "I go feed da ducks?" It was so cute and funny. And of course, since he runs this house, we went to feed the ducks.

Shelly Lake also has a great playground so we stopped there on the way out

Hudson is very into swinging in a big boy swing. It almost gives me a heart attack. He is growing up so fast!

First day of preschool

Somehow my little man is old enough to start preschool. He will go on Tuesday and Thursday for a few hours right down the street at our church. Today was his first day!

When we dropped him off, he looked a little confused but his teacher said he went right in and started playing. They are very smart and have you pass your child over a half door so you cannot go in the classroom. He only went for 2 hours today so they can adjust and it was the perfect amount of time for me to compose myself from crying, run 2 errands and get stuck in pouring rain. I did enjoy being able to get in and out of the car easier.

I was so excited to go pick him up! I got there 15 minutes early. His door was closed and there was a cute sign by it telling the moms what they did today. They had centers, read books, went to music class, decorated their snacktime placemats, had a snack and....... I forgot the last thing.

When the classroom door opened all of their cute little faces were standing in line to be picked up. Hudson got a big smile, ran and jumped in my arms and said, "hey mama, hey mama, hey!!!!" It melted my heart.

We went and had a special lunch and he told me all of the fun things he did. After lunch we went to Target to get a new toy. He picked out the biggest, talking ambulance. Let's hope drop off Thursday goes just as smoothe as today did and that he does not think he gets so spoiled at the end of each school day!!!
