Football Widow

My least favorite time of year is about to begin. Football season. I am still suffering from baseball season but football just about does me in. Our family calendar is already marked for every home Wolfpack game. But I am so lucky (eesh) to be married to someone who plays Fantasy Football. Really? Why do guys do this? I actually think Jonathan believes that whomever he puts in his starting line up is actually going to play. And his league has a draft night. He does research for this. He makes a chart of who he is going to draft. It is so silly.

Our Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights are spent with football on the tv and the laptop on Jonathan's lap. To say that it is ridiculous would be an understatement. Hudson and I are completely ignored and there is often screaming at bad plays. I truly believe that I could tell Jonathan that our house was on fire and his response would be, "There are 3 minutes left and they are on the 10 yard line, you and Hudson go ahead and get out."

I have come to realize that I will never understand this. I do not like things that take away from family time and football is #1 on my list. And I really think playing a fantasy sport is the dumbest thing that I have ever heard. I get made fun of for watching "Bachelor Pad" and "Real Housewives" but somehow playing make believe with a bunch of 20+ year old guys is acceptable? I think not.
